Hello, I’m Rebecca Wilson. A Community Counselling Psychologist working within the NHS.

I believe that the context in which we grow up and live in, shapes our sense of self and how we live our lives. I believe that our relationships (past, present and future) are key to our well-being and aim to explore and understand each person's own story and journey to well-being.

I don’t subscribe to a “one size fits all” method in therapy. Each person is unique, and what works for one individual may not be effective for another. This belief means I appreciate individual differences and will think carefully with you to determine the most suitable approach, ensuring we are a good match. Taking an integrate approach, I draw upon various theoretical concepts and ideas that help me to understand each client and choose the best techniques that are always tailored to each person’s needs.

Alongside my role within the NHS, I am also a trustee of the charity, The Rocky Road Foundation. In my work with the Rocky Road Foundation, I am passionate about finding creative ways to support communities and local sporting clubs to promote, manage and maintain their well-being, through collaborative, skills-based approaches. I hope that those who engage or wish to engage in sport can do so with a positive mental fitness and physical fitness, regardless of their social, racial, economic or other position within life.

My core values are prevention, empathy, and compassion. I believe in an open and honest approach to therapy, where we can work together to explore and address the challenges you're facing.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
