More about Deborah

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP

My name is Deborah Dunne, and I am a BACP registered talking therapist and HCPC registered Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist with 18 years of experience supporting both children and adults in navigating mental health challenges. My own journey through childhood anxiety and depression ignited a deep passion for helping others, which continues to drive my work today.

Over the last 3 years I have specialized in talking therapy approaches working with individuals facing various anxiety-related issues, emotional dysregulation, and low mood. My dual background in occupational therapy and talk therapy allows me to offer a unique blend of care that not only addresses symptoms but also promotes meaningful engagement in life’s activities. By integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches into my practice, I provide structured and effective treatment plans tailored to each client's needs.

I also want to share that my therapy training included a core focus on adapting talking therapies for Autistic individuals. I am committed to neuro affirming practice and continue to learn from autistic voices.

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in creative pursuits, music, and exploring nature. These interests keep me grounded and inspire the creative approaches I bring into therapy sessions.

If you're ready to embark on a journey toward a fulfilling and balanced life, I'm here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
