My name is Antje Brown and I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a qualified supervisor for other trained psychotherapists.

To date I have over twenty years of professional experience working with people experiencing a broad range of psychological and emotional difficulties from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I specialise in working with people who have experienced childhood trauma, abuse and neglect as well as people who are struggling with their sexual identity and to form healthy, intimate adult relationships. In addition to this I work with people who suffer from depression, anxiety and eating disorders. Other mental health conditions I am qualified to work with include personality disorder as well as bi-polar disorder.

At the heart of psychoanalytic psychotherapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. In the safety of this deeply authentic relationship you will be helped to express your most troubling thoughts and feelings and gain an understanding of how past experiences can 'live on' in your present thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Understanding your internal world and motivations for your behaviour provides the basis for positive changes in your mental and physical health and ability to manage life. Everything you share with me in your therapy sessions is confidential within the constraints of the code of ethics.

Recovering your mental health is possible, and it starts with seeking help. I very much look forward to hearing from you when you take your first step towards recovery.

"Being able to be your true self is one of the strongest components of good mental health. "

Warmest wishes

Antje

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
