More about Jamie

  • 7 years' experience

  • BACP, NCPS

Hello, my name is Jamie and I am a qualified counsellor in the UK with over seven years of professional work experience. As a counsellor I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, LGBTQ+ related issues, relationship issues, & coping with grief and loss, however, these are just some of the areas of counselling that I have experience in working with, as every client raises different issues and challenges I feel it would be impossible to list them all.

As a counsellor, I provide warm, confidential and non-judgemental short and long-term counselling for individuals from all walks of life. I am down-to-earth and passionate about my work. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. As your counsellor, I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

I realise that taking that first step towards help by contacting a counsellor can be daunting and may cause feelings of anxiety, particularly if you haven't had counselling before. The reality is that we all need help at some time, so I would encourage you to take that first step if you can.

If you decide to start counselling, my aim will be to help put you at ease in the first session. We will discuss key aspects of the therapeutic relationship, for example, maintaining confidentiality, as well as exploring in more detail what it is that has brought you to therapy. If you know what you would like to achieve out of counselling we will explore that too. If you don't know, that's absolutely fine; clients don't always explicitly know what they want to achieve. Sometimes it's as simple as 'feeling normal again'. If there are lots of different things going on in your life, we can look at what you might want to work on first.

Counselling does not claim to be the answer to all difficulties, but it does offer you the opportunity to explore different ways of looking at your life. Counselling can be a way of giving yourself time and space to discover more effective and rewarding ways of living or coping. As your counsellor, I will listen to you in a private and confidential setting and offer you my full attention, respect and a commitment to supporting you in developing your own solutions, insights, awareness and answers to the issues that are important to you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Jamie has been excellent for me. I've been able to talk about a lot of different issues and feel a whole lot better and less alone after. Whilst we might not always find the answer to some things, being able to discuss and verbalise issues in an environment that cultivates openness certainly helps a tonne.

Jamie is excellent. I am very much enjoying counselling with him. He is responsive, thought provoking and understanding of my issues - broadly LGBTQIA challenges. I cannot recommend Jamie enough.
