In my experience, we often come to therapy when we feel stuck in a way of living which is becoming increasingly difficult and painful to sustain. Perhaps you have some of the following thoughts and feelings:
- my life is simply surviving rather than thriving.
- my past cast long shadows on the present.
- my self esteem is fragile and I worry too much about what others might be thinking.
- my future seems more scary than exciting.
- I've lost meaning, purpose or passion in life.
- my true self has gone missing, somewhere along the way.
If any of this resonates with you, my existential approach to therapy will provide you with a safe place in which to explore and process any trauma in your past; pain in the present and anxiety about the future. Helping you to bring the 'real you' out of hiding and find a more joyful and authentic way of living.
Within a non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, I will encourage you to practice self-acceptance and to examine issues and feelings you may have been avoiding for too long. Reflecting my belief in Irvin Yalom's view that 'The act of revealing ourself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help.'
I have particular expertise in working with people who have experienced significant trauma, including physical, psychological and sexual abuse. When working with trauma, I share Carl Jung's view that, 'We are not what happened to us, we are who we choose to become.' I will support you to safely explore past trauma and any associated feelings of shame or unworthiness. And to practice self-acceptance and find ways to release yourself from any control the past still exerts on your present and future.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and have been working with clients since 2020. In addition to my formal training, my approach to therapy is informed by my own 60 years of life; in all its light and shade, sadness and joy. I have had my share of troubles and disappointments and believe this enhances my ability to offer you compassion and empathetic understanding. As Bob Dylan wrote, "In your teardrops I see my own reflection.'

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
