Hello my name is Jo and I’m a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered member of the BACP with over three years clinical experience.

Are you experiencing difficulties with low mood or lack of motivation which is having a negative impact on your wellbeing and happiness?

Or are you feeling stuck and unsure about how to move forward in your life, either because of something that has happened or even without any clear reason?

If any of this sounds familiar then I am here to listen.

Maybe you regularly feel anxious or on edge, or you find yourself overthinking and worrying excessively about things... If so, I can support you in making sense of what is going on for you and in finding your own way forward.

I mainly offer person-centred counselling which promotes client autonomy by supporting rather than directing and puts clients in control of their healing. You can expect a safe space to explore things and I will support you in finding a way through. I can also include elements of other approaches such as CBT in my work where appropriate (for example work on challenging irrational or negative thoughts) or looking at relaxation, grounding or coping strategies. I tailor my approach to suit your needs.

My training and qualifications are as follows:

Level 2 in Autism Awareness (Skills Network)

Level 4 QLS in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Open Study College)

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Leeds City College)

Level 3 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Leeds City College)

PGCE Primary (University of Durham)

BA Hons Degree English Language and Linguistics (University of Durham).

I have worked with clients of varying age range including students and young people. I have experience of working with a variety of issues, including but not limited to bereavement, pregnancy loss, low self esteem, depression, stress, trauma, bullying, student issues, relationships, work-related issues and anxiety.

I will listen fully, empathise and value what you say. I will never judge you and I will always be genuine and myself. So, if you are feeling lost or struggling with your thoughts or feelings and would like some support, I would love to hear from you.

***Please note if you are specifically requiring evening or weekend sessions that I have very limited availability for these as my working hours are mainly from 9:30am to 3pm during the week ***

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
