Hi, I am Laura Stoops and I am a UK qualified integrative counsellor. This means that I am trained in using different types of counselling and can combine these to best support you. The types of counselling I use most are Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, which ensures I work ethically.

I understand that opening up to someone can be difficult, especially as we don't know each other at the start. Please know that I will always be non-judgemental and supportive no matter the topic we are discussing.

I have supported clients with a range of areas including:

Anxiety | Depression | Relationships / relating to others | Grief / loss | Health worries | Ageing worries | Carer responsibilities | Future goals | Self-awareness

If you choose to work with me, I will aim to support you in the way that works best for you. I will always listen, try to understand what you are facing from your perspective, and together we can work on improving things for you.

I look forward to speaking to you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Laura takes the time to listen to me and offer guidance when appropriate, she gives me a non judgemental space to safely explore things that are bothering me in that moment. She also takes the time to suggest resources I might like and her analogies and resources have helped improve my anxiety and self esteem. There’s still more work to do but for the work so far I am deeply grateful.

Following Dr Stoops' advice has helped me out of a rough patch. Even when I didn't feel like doing what she suggested, I did, and I quickly began to feel better. I wouldn't have been able to do that by myself as I felt so overwhelmed. Having the option to message as well as meet has been really helpful.
