More about Nisha

  • 12 years' experience

I hold a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Nottingham and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision from the Centre for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD).

I have been awarded accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which is a quality status for experienced practitioners who can demonstrate high standards of competent and ethical practice. I adhere to the professional body’s Ethical Framework and Professional Conduct Procedure in all my work with clients, ensuring a high standard of professional practice.

While my counselling orientation is Humanistic and is based on experiencing relational depth in the therapy, my approach is trauma informed. I am a certified provider of tension, trauma and stress releasing exercises (TRE), which is a technique that releases deeply imbedded muscular patterns of tension, calming down the nervous system and encouraging the body to return to a state of balance. Additionally, I am a fully trained eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapist; an innovative psychotherapy that uses bilateral stimulation to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.

My interventions have been used to aid in the management of post-traumatic stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, phobias, complicated grief, anger, pain relief and relationship concerns.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
