More about Lesley

  • 3 years' experience

I'm Lesley, I am a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist with almost 20 years experience in Hearing Therapy.

I am a member of the British Associatiation for counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP registration number 397174) and am registered with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP - number 4891).

I am based in Stockport, Greater Manchester and am also available nationally or internationally via video call.

My ethos: I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be cared for and listened to with empathy and without judgement in a respectful and genuine way. If we decide that I am the right therapist for you I will endeavour to offer my genuine self with confidentiality, empathy, care and respect to aid your personal growth.

My approach: I use an integrative approach encompassing person centred theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis where needed.

What to expect from counselling: Counselling can be difficult, daunting, profound, liberating, challenging and life changing. The process aims to bring about change and self-awareness. It is a process that may take some time before real change can be noticed. It can be incredibly rewarding and empowering. Most people enter therapy because of a difficulty in their life. Therapy allows for responsibility and accountability to deal with difficulty as an adult.

The first session involves discussing and agreeing a contract or working agreeing and setting goals based on your wants and needs. This may change and can be renegotiated in later sessions. The number of sessions are determined by your choices and how you and I feel that you are progressing.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
