Jay has been the most supportive therapist I could ask for! I feel like I’m starting to smile again and she is always willing to make time to help when needed, I feel so blessed that I found Jay through Better Help!

Reviewed May 2024

She understands my situation and helps me focus on what I can control and can rise quickly to my pace of need and slow down when she sees I can look at other perspectives. I would be lost and in really bad shape if I didn’t have her to talk to.

More about Jay

Hi I am Jay, I am licensed and registered female psychotherapist, who has worked predominantly in the UK for the last 26 years. I have vast therapeutic and clinical experience in helping clients with a wide range issues such as stress, anxiety & depression, abandonment, death, grief, loss, MS, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autism, ADHD, sensory impairments, drug and alcohol dependencies, foster care, adoption, low self esteem and confidence, body dysmorphia, childhood sexual abuse, childhood trauma, PTSD, disordered eating, mid-life crisis, living under military occupation, prison detention, forensic history, impact of war and displacement etc. I have specialized in the area of child, adolescent and family mental health for over 20 years both in an out-patient and inpatient mental health setting.

I also manage my own private practice and work therapeutically with adults and couples. I am trained and certified to deliver EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy) which is a trauma-informed therapeutic intervention. I am also a certified and experienced Systemic therapist.

I also have an international portfolio of working across the Middle East and USA. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment, criticism and failure. I have extensive experience of working with clients from diverse backgrounds, and as a therapist of colour, I value and am passionate about working with difference, similarities, challenges, barriers and struggles that people of colour experience on a daily basis, whether that be at home, school, college, workplace or in relationships.

I have over 5 years experience of working remotely using emails, phone calls and video calls. I know this may seem a little strange at first, especially if you have never worked therapeutically in this way; however over time, I hope I can reassure you by saying that it does start to feel easier and you will feel more relaxed with each session.

I have published books in the field of child and adolescent mental health and was also the recipient of the National Mental Health Award, (UK).

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage, it is not an easy step to take. I hope every person feels safe and contained in the space we share together. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you to continue your journey of reflection, positive change, insight and transformation.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

I had the pleasure of working with Jay, and I can confidently say that my experience was incredibly positive. Jay's expertise and compassionate approach provided me with the support I needed during a challenging time in my life. Jay's ability to listen attentively and offer valuable insights helped me gain a deeper understanding of myself and my situation. Their guidance was instrumental in navigating my challenges, and I felt genuinely supported throughout our sessions. I appreciated Jay's professionalism, empathy, and dedication to helping me achieve my goals. I would highly recommend Jay to anyone seeking a caring and knowledgeable therapist.

Honestly Australia’s support for mental health issues is disgusting and this app is worth so much to me, it helped me find Jay and I’ve never felt more validated and supported, to have responses and feedback and just be able to write a journal and share it with Jay has been an absolute blessing and I cannot express my thanks to her enough for being there to listen. In Australia I think people are better off using the Better Help app because the value and support far outweighs my limited support options in Australia.

Jay-what a woman! She has been the most incredible therapist to work with. I went into the process feeling anxious and sceptical having had some not so helpful experiences with therapists in the past. But within the first session with Jay I felt super hopeful and positive that I was with the right person to support me to get to a better place. Her knowledge and expertise has literally changed my life! I've felt valued, validation and had the most constructive feedback and support throughout the process. Messaging in-between sessions was great, she responded really quickly with thought and great support. I've felt really heard, been put at ease and given the tools to fix things I thought were unfixable. I would highly recommend her to anyone. I feel like a new woman. The best investment I've ever made. Five stars

Jay has massively helped me in so many more aspects of my life than I could ever have hoped for. She has helped me rebuild myself from a very low place to a point where I actively enjoy life on a day to day basis so much more than I thought I ever could, whilst also encouraging me to improve and constantly better myself by instilling self-confidence that I never knew I had. I plan on continuing therapy with Jay for as long as I feel it benefits me, and I would recommend her to anyone regardless of where they are in their life as I feel she could help improve & support anyone she works with.

Jay is fantastic! Professional yet personal, she really makes an effort to understand and go at a pace you're comfortable with. She regularly checks in outside of our weekly sessions and I don't just feel like she only cares because she's paid to. Everyone needs a Jay in their life.

I have seen several therapists, counselors and psychologists for 15+ years. I've never felt comfortable or "seen" in any of my sessions. I honestly wasn't expecting a video session to be as impactful, but in the first call with Jay, I left feeling SO much lighter. Jay was the first person to really see me through the walls I put up and quickly, effectively and SO kindly got to the heart of the issues. She has the ability to make you feel so heard, loved and supported and accepted even in a virtual setting. She picks up on things I'm saying and NOT saying and helps me understand my thoughts and feelings better than I or anyone else ever has. A major part of this has been the understanding and validation of my traumatic experiences and is helping me to process them in a way that is very effective for me. Therapy is such a personal/personalized experience, but I would recommend Jay 100000000%. She is the best and I'm so lucky to be working with her - she has been pivotal in my healing journey and I am so grateful to her for that.

I am so thankful that Jay is my therapist. As a Muslim, I was so worried about getting someone that didn’t understand my culture, faith and my values. I wanted help and advice in light of my Islamic faith and culture. Jay understood me so well and it was such a relief that her understanding allowed me to really open up and take in the advice whole heartedly. Jay took the time from the beginning to acknowledge the challenges of opening up and speaking to someone. I appreciated how she introduced herself and told me a little a bit herself so I got a feel as to who I was speaking to which allowed me to better relate. Jay really leaves me feeling like I have been heard, is very supportive and has guided me gently, calmly and positively along my journey of self healing. I found her advice to be practical and balanced between being hopeful and realistic. I live in a different country and time zone than Jay, yet she has always tried to accommodate me and make sure we had a chance to talk in depth. She was open to my preference of communication and responds to me in a timely fashion. Jay is the best friend you always wished you had, who can support you objectively in a gently and supportive manner. She is a great listener and has a calming voice when she speaks. To any fellow Muslims in particular who are looking to start therapy but really desire someone who understands your cultural background and Islamic values, Jay is the perfect fit. I am thankful that BetterHelp is trying to accommodate for the Muslim community and in particular I am thankful for Jay.

Jay is incredible. Besides being very experienced and kind, She is extremely adept at understanding the salient issues at stake and how to address them, and focuses on delivering advice in a scientific manner, which provides greater comfort for the more academic. Many people come to see a psychotherapist to understand certain problems better. However Jay will enable you to be more thoughtful and address issues using various techniques.
