Kerry Roberts has 20 years’ experience working and studying in the field of mental health.
Kerry completed a Batchelors Degree in Psychology in 2001 at The University of Wales in Wrexham and began her career as a mental health support worker for service users at an independent mental health rehabilitation unit.
Kerry then began her therapeutic training which involved learning integrative counselling skills – Rogerian, Gestalt, Psychodynamic before completing her Diploma in Person Centred Counselling in 2007. Kerry worked as an Independent Mental Health Advocate for 5 years, supporting individuals affected by mental health problems in hospital and the community with accessing their rights and having their voices heard.
Kerry then continued studying and went on to complete her Batchelors Degree in Mental Health Nursing in 2014 to become a registered mental health nurse. Kerry worked as a staff nurse for an NHS adult acute mental health inpatient services for 5 years where she supported individuals with their mental health treatment, stabilisation and recovery using a biopsychosocial approach. Kerry has also been nurse in charge for adult low secure and locked rehabilitation units and adults with complex neurological conditions and learning disabilities.
Kerry has extensive experience of adult acute inpatient services and in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of mental, emotional, and psychological problems i.e. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, psychosis, CPTSD, personality disorders. Kerry has completed postgraduate level training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and has additional training in Dialectical behaviour therapy.
Kerry is a registered mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a member of the Royal College of Nursing. Kerry is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Kerry uses an eclectic mix of theories and interventions to develop a bespoke treatment plan for each individual. Kerry specialises in mental health assessments, anxiety management, burnout, trauma, and self-esteem issues.
