Malia has been a monumental help in helping me explore, identify, and maintain healthier boundaries within my relationships, including a very difficult one. Working with her has been enlightening and empowering, particularly when working through strong emotions or conflicting emotions. She has been a safe space for me from day one, and I’m so grateful to be working with her!

Felt really confident about making progress after I read her bio. The very first question she asked me, what were my goals. Since then she has zeroed in on current events in my life and we are slowly dissecting them to understand the emotional points that occurred so I have a better understanding going forward.

Welcomes to BetterHelp! My name is Malia and I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) licensed only in Colorado and Texas. Just a quick friendly reminder of licensure limitations- If your home base is in either state listed above, therapy services with me are available. If you do not live in those states or live internationally, unfortunately I am unable to provide services. If you are currently residing in CO/TX but planning to move out of state, please be mindful of how this may impact your current BH prepaid package/services.

I am so glad that you made a decision to get support and guidance! Therapy can be a big decision and it requires a lot of trust and vulnerability which is why it is my goal to help you feel safe to share and be yourself. I have been practicing therapy over 11 years and specialize in working with clients on a variety of areas such anxiety, depression, addictions, self esteem, relationship issues, divorce and more. In our sessions, I focus on the individual needs of each client with compassion, patience, non-judgement and understanding. I am a strength based therapist and focus on helping client’s see that they are resilient and help them work towards a new perspective. As a LMFT, I work 1:1 with clients from a relational model where we focus on how to best support you within your relationships both personal and professional. We will talk about boundaries, work/life balance, values, and communication to name a few topics. What we know is that our daily lives are impacted by those around us in every environment. That brings both a lot of support and also challenges. We will really focus on what you can control within yourself and model healthy behavior to those around you. This work will be about you, it’s for you to be your healthiest, best self.

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) , Client Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, IFS tools and other approaches to help find a sense of inner control over thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I am honored you chose me as your provider and if you don't mind, my animals like sitting in on sessions at times. :) I am excited to work with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Malia so far has been extremely helpful and took so much initiative in helping me get out of a hard mental-place. Not only are our chat sessions useful, but in between sessions we talk regularly through messaging. She checks in on me to make sure I'm doing okay in between sessions, which means the world to me. She also has positive tasks she has me complete between sessions so that we do meet we can talk about my progress. She is awesome!
