More about David

  • 6 years' experience

I am licensed in the UK with 6 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with their psychological ill health, such as stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, & depression. I can also assist with personal and professional development, along with life skills

I work with adults (18+) only, using an integrative approach, comprising of Humanistic and Psychodynamic therapies. Humanistic therapy focuses on the 'here and now', in that we have the power to make our own decisions, that we have basic needs that need to be met, and how we can benefit from accepting responsibility for meeting those needs.

Psychodynamic therapy is fundamentally reflecting on our past experiences and how we may be influenced and unhelpfully effected by these in the present day. This combination is underpinned by an empathic approach towards your personal development so that you gain a better understanding of your 'self'.

I am happy to work with clients in the short, medium and long term, dependant on individual needs. For example we can work together once a week for an indefinite period, or some clients prefer to see me once every two weeks. Alternatively some clients prefer to 'drop' in for support and guidance as and when required. Essentially the flexibility is there.

I can provide you with a safe and confidential space to talk about your issues or concerns. I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and others. Thereby guiding you to find your own solutions, whether that's making effective changes in your life, or findings ways of coping with your problems. As a therapist my aim is to help raise a clients awareness of their personal patterns of relating to self, others and the world.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
