I work with clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions, enabling them to gain a clearer understanding of their life experience, and to find their way towards a more fulfilling life. I understand that it can be difficult to make sense of life events and changes and believe it is important to offer a trustworthy and confidential space for clients to not only embark on a journey of self-exploration and change, but to also gain a feeling of value and self-worth which is important for self-development and growth.
Working integratively means I draw from several theoretical approaches, and tailor them to the unique needs of my clients. I work with the person centred, humanistic and psychodynamic models, and aim to offer a space which enables my clients to safely explore the issues which they choose to work through, at their own pace.
I worked in IT for 19 years and prior to that worked in Retail and Market Research. I have developed an understanding of the challenges of the work environment and how it can impact the personal areas of an individual’s life, and vice versa. I have an interest in depression and anxiety, stress, workplace and communication issues, self-esteem and self confidence, family and relationship issues, and have gained experience in providing clients with a safe and supportive space to explore these challenges.
By learning and understanding for myself how therapy can bring about helpful and positive change within a person’s life, I developed a passion for Counselling. Since gaining experiencing by providing mentoring support within IT, and volunteering at Norwood and Brixton Foodbank, I have built upon my desire to work therapeutically with clients from a range of cultural backgrounds and various walks of life.
