Jo has a great approach to the therapy sessions and aids in helping you find your own answers by letting you guide the topics and overall session. She provided great resources to compliment the therapy, listened intently to what I had to say and challenged my perspective on aspects of my life which caused me to reconsider many things. Thank you Jo!

Hello and welcome to Sage Therapy

I am licensed in the UK with 9 years of professional work experience as a therapist and over 20 years working in the field of mental health.

I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, & depression.

I have worked for numerous charities over the years, Together working for mental well-being, Place2be, Integrated neurological services and Youth counselling services, this along side my private practise.

Working with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgement.

I am an experienced integrative counsellor, this means I draw upon a range of methods to suit each individual to help deal with what is going on for you at this point in your life, helping you to make sense of it all and figure out how to move on from where you are in your life, to serve you well from this point forward.

sometimes life can leave you feeling like everything is a struggle, busy lives can lead you to forget about taking care of yourself.

Perhaps there is an accumulation of life stuff that has happened over a period of time that has had an effect on your mental well being and how you go about your days.

I can help support you in Building better boundaries and learn what you need for you to grow and go forwards in your life, in a safe space free from judgement.

Becoming resilient:

Resilience can be defined as your ability to flexibly adapt to challenging, adverse and traumatic event in our lives. The ability to 'bounce back' from traumatic life events is based upon the capability at the time of the event to process the emotions connected to it, this is something we don't always get an opportunity to do.

Resilience is not a trait you have or don't have, it is a set of strategies that can be learned and practised.

in our work together I will aim to:

Build your resources and help you to focus on your strengths

increase distress tolerance

offer a safe space to reprocess trauma and its cause and effect.

To support you to encompass a new and active role in your own personal growth and healing.

Family Tree:

We will take a look into your family history and take a look at the inter-generational aspect of behaviours that are and how there may have been patterns playing all throughout your family history.

The past can often affect the present without us being fully aware of it.

I offer a safe empathetic space, free from judgement for you to discover your inner strengths that maybe hidden, sometimes in life we don't realise just how strong we are until we make time to discover it.

It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.

Working with the focus of our relationship, my aim is to build trust which can be a foreign concept to those who have experienced adversity in life and the early years, together we will begin to break down and work through patterns of behaviour that may not be useful in the here and now.

We will work creatively Tailored to your needs. I practice mindfulness meditation for long term sufferers of anxiety and depression to aid you back into the present moment and give yourself the tools you need to continue self care outside of our sessions.

We will work with the somatic experience and how trauma gets stored in the body.

When we experience trauma our brain does a fantastic job of looking after us in that moment, however this can have repercussions in the long run if we do not connect the dots as to why we reacted in a certain way when our mind goes into 'survival mode'.

Sometimes if the survival brain has been triggered allot through our lives, it can struggle to decipher what a 'threat' is from everyday stress. I am here to help you process this.

“The past has no power to stop you from being present now. Only your grievance about the past can do that. And what is grievance? The baggage of old thought and emotion.”

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
