Welcome!

Hi! I’m Valentina (she/her), qualified psychotherapist (MBacp, MSc) in the UK, Manchester, but work online only therefore we can work together even if you live somewhere else in the UK.

I specialise in developing self esteem, confidence, addressing relationship and attachment issues, including the impact of emotional abuse/neglect and LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy.

A little bit about my story

I'm Italian, moved to the UK 8 years ago and I have also struggled with my mental health in the past, following an emotionally abusive relationship which had left me with no self esteem, little sense of identity and traumatized.

After going to therapy myself and training in psychotherapy, I decided to make my personal experience my point of strength and specialise in those areas.

But let's talk about you!

There are so many ways in which low self esteem and confidence may be manifesting in your life right now.

Perhaps you are stuck in a cycle of negative self talk, saying to yourself that nobody likes you, you are stupid, not smart enough, that you should look or be different, or that you don't deserve happiness, success or love and everybody hates you, and even you hate you.

Maybe you're pushing away people you love, socially withdrawing from anyone who actually cares about you or worse getting into toxic relationships that may confirm that set of believes.

You're feeling drained and defeated for getting into emotionally abusive relationships over and over in which you feel unappreciated, emotionally abandoned, invalidated, blamed all the times.

Maybe relationships don't feel a safe space for you, yet you seem to crave them and struggle to be alone.

You may feel you need a lot of reassurance from your partners or friends all the times and you are worried they may get tired of it at some point and leave you.

Or perhaps you are single at the moment and you've noticed you tend to avoid or sabotage your dates, it never seem to lead to the committed partnership you desire. Emotional and/or physical intimacy is frightening you.

How I can help you

What would be like, for once, to talk to someone who actually cares? someone who truly understands you, who can make you feel seen and reassured that you aren’t going crazy? Your feelings are valid, all of them!

Counselling with me can help you:

_feel relieved and lift that weight you’ve been carrying all on your own

_stop and reflect on what is actually behind those feelings and patterns

_become aware of your own inner strengths and power and how you can use them to build self esteem and feel confident in your daily life

_increase self compassion and accept your feelings, even those uncomfortable ones

_Identify and set boundaries in your relationships

_Improve the way you communicate your feelings and needs with others

_figure out the causes of your depression and anxiety

_better understand your thoughts and behaviours

_figure out strategies that work for you so that you can better deal with those challenges after the end of therapy.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
