More about Candace

  • 10 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPC

I am licensed in Virginia with 10 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with various issues, including but not limited to depression, PTSD, adoption issues, preparing for adoption, addiction, ADHD, stress and anxiety, family conflicts, parenting issues, and anger management. I have worked with those who are vets, police officers, active military, and other first responders, along with having additional training in military and forensic psychology. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Typically, I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), but I will use additional therapies, theories, modalities, and techniques to help you reach your goals. I have specialized training in adoption competency, juvenile competency, TF-CBT, A-CRA, CRA, and CRAFT. I believe in recognizing small changes each person makes, as these grow and develop into big changes one may be seeking when requesting therapy. I am someone who is here to listen and provide support. I believe in allowing clients to help with leading on this journey to better mental health.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

I had to search for awhile, but Candace is hands down the best therapist I've found to speak with here. Her ability to critically think and suggest solutions while in the moment are some of the most helpful and grounding times I've experienced with her. Completely recommend, take a chance, you will not be disappointed

Candace is one of the most understanding and kind therapists I've ever had. I used to have panic attacks nearly every day but she has taught me some very helpful techniques and now they're maybe once every week and a half. So to sum it up she's super friendly and she's amazing at her job!

Candace is such a lovely human being. She is amazing at listening and offering great suggestions that encourages broadening one’s perspective on a given situation. She is personable and professional, very knowledgeable and you can tell she has a great deal of experience doing what she does. It’s so easy to talk to her and every time we have a session I end up having another little epiphany about something I’d never connected with myself before. I’m so glad I got matched with her as my therapist and truly look forward to my appointments. Candace is such a gem.

She listens well and is attentive to my current issues at hand

Reviewed February 2023

Candace makes you feel like she is your friend as well as your therapist. She gets to know you and sometimes just lets you talk about yourself instead of just diving into a "counseling session", which I always hated. She is relatable and always asks what she can help you work on and bases her sessions and talks on what you want out of this program. She is very kind and never judges me, which is always something I struggle with in finding a good counselor. I would highly recommend her for her knowledge and kindness.

Reviewed February 2023

Great listener, high on empathy without oversharing, works well with intelligent and highly motivated patients.

Reviewed February 2023

Candace is the first therapist I felt truly understood by. She is always so careful to listen and take note of what I'm saying. She's caring, and wants to work WITH you to achieve your goals on your own time line. Healing comes in so many different ways, and Candace is ready for every single one of them.
