More about Rebecca

  • 5 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am a professional counsellor/psychotherapist offering a warm, empathic and confidential therapy service.

My counselling approach is one which absolutely values, respects and appreciates that every person and their life experience is unique. No two individuals experience life and what it presents in the same way, which is a common misconception in the wider world. This may be why, when people seek help by sharing problems with family and friends they may not feel truly heard, which can leave a person feeling isolated, vulnerable and alone with their emotional pain, unsure of what to do next.

Numerous factors contribute towards who we are and how we are able to deal with the difficulties life may throw at us. It is important to realise that your problems, issues or concerns and the feelings and emotions attached to them are very much your own and so is your way of processing them. This is what you and I working together will aim to help you discover and work towards positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience:

My professional status is that I am a member of the BACP, which means I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Practice.

My qualifications include a FdSc Degree in Integrative Counselling and a Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also hold certificates for professionally working with people who have been affected by addiction.

My professional counselling and psychotherapy work has been one to one or group therapy. I have worked in a residential setting providing therapy for substance and alcohol misuse, trauma and abuse. I have also gained numerous years of experience working in a secure psychiatric hospital providing support for people suffering from long term mental health problems such as EUPD, psychosis, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, schizophrenia and self harming behaviours.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Rebecca helped me navigate through an extremely turbulent time of my life and for that I am eternally grateful. I clung onto those weekly sessions as a centrepiece to my healing, she was incredibly generous with her time outside of sessions in responding to my sometimes frantic journals. Since working with her she has helped me to move through and past this time of my life and even look back on it with gratitude and empathy. I don’t regret any of the things that I have experienced now, and I am in a place where I am content and Rebecca played a huge role in this. So thank you

I really enjoyed doing therapy with Rebecca! From the first session I felt really safe with her and in only 2 months of therapy we covered so many topics. She tailored each session towards my needs and was very flexible and creative in coming up with different ways of supporting me in resolving my issues. I will miss my sessions with her!
