There really are no words that I can use to explain how helpful Alex has been to me. I had been on Better Help before and had experiences with other therapists. but there is no one that I clicked with as much as I did with Alex. Her warm, kind, caring approach to therapy really helped me to open up and be honest with myself and Alex. And I think it was that, which helped me to make so much progress so quickly. When I had especially rough days, Alex was always there with a quick response to help me through my problems. There is no way I could be in the position I am now, without the support and kindness I got from Alex. I owe a lot to her, although she's humble enough to say I did all the work. the truth is I couldn't have done it without her. and if you're struggling to pick a therapist. there Is none that I would recommend higher than Alex Mulliner. Thank you Alex

Alex is such an amazing therapist, when I I first signed up i initially though that I would only find therapy useful for a month or so, but after being paired with Alex and talking to her, she’s not only helped me with my anxiety, but she has also given me the best advice on helping build healthier friendships/relationships with people.:)

Are you looking for someone to talk to?

Who allows you to feel heard and tell your story?

Who is non-judgemental and creates a safe space to talk?

Has a kind and gentle approach?

Hello, I'm Alex. I have been working as a Counsellor for 6 years and thoroughly enjoy my job. My counselling work has mainly taken place within the NHS and private sectors including employee assistance programmes. I am a MBACP qualified Integrative Counsellor, which means that I am trained in a few different approaches including;

- Person Centred Therapy

- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

- Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

I believe that there should not be a 'one size fits all' approach to therapy. We are all human with different sets of challenges and needs. My aim in session is to provide a safe space, whereby you feel you can show up as your true self and listen to your intuition. I can guide and support you to build a 'tool kit' of different skills to aid change for personal growth.

What can you expect from therapy?

- Slowly building a good therapeutic relationship.

- Unpacking things that you have never addressed before.

- Learning to look at things from a different perspective.

- Learning new skills & understanding new things about yourself.

- Setting boundaries and learning how to put yourself first.

I am frequently asked by new clients if I have a specialist area in which I work with. I believe that when I enter a therapy room I do not meet a issue or a problem. I meet a human being who deep down knows themselves best. I believe I specialise in being fully present for the person in my therapy room. Listening deeply and with full attention to what is being shared with me. However, there are certain areas in which I do have particular experience in.

- People with highly sensitive personality traits.

- People who have anxiety difficulties or imposter syndrome.

- People who are neurodivergent or are exploring the possibility of seeking a diagnosis of ADHD and Autism. Please be mindful that I am not qualified to make diagnoses. I sit with people who wish to talk more about their symptoms and explore possible traits. I am on the spectrum myself and although our experiences may not be the same, you may find it helpful to work with an Neurodivergent Counsellor.

- People who find themselves feeling resentful and exhausted when in the company of others.

- People who have lost someone important to them.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Alex understood all the complexities of what I had experienced and used her expertise to support me and provide me with resources to help me process it. She gets it and I knew she was the right therapist for me from Day 1. I have experienced many different therapists and therapies and I would recommend her services to anyone in need of therapy when life gets tough. There was a noticeable and recognizable improvement within me because of the work I did with her and I am beyond thankful.

Alex is a fantastic therapist who is empathetic, caring and non-judgemental. She’s a great listener who takes sessions at my pace and helps me to see situations in different lights. I feel very comfortable talking to her and am very lucky that my first experience of counselling is with her - thank you!

I wasn't sure about therapy at first, is it worth it, would it help etc. I can say that yes it absolutely was worth it and has helped me so much after only a few sessions but I feel that's down to Alex who I was assigned and I'm so grateful she was. Alex listens and gives brilliant advice, I feel like I can open up about anything in confidence and without fear of judgement. Our sessions are a highlight in my week and I couldn't thank or recommend her enough. Truly a lovely person.
