More about Ashley

  • 9 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I'm a licensed clinical social worker in Pennsylvania, providing direct service to clients for over 9 years. I began my career counseling individuals who have committed sexual offenses as well as survivors of sexual abuse, and working with individuals who have experienced various traumas continues to be the majority of my practice. I also work with clients to process guilt and shame, improve self-esteem and self-concept, improve communication skills, and build healthy boundaries in relationships.

Building a trusting relationship with a therapist can be so difficult, and not every therapist is the best fit for every client. My core values of honesty, integrity, and authenticity are integral to my approach as a therapist. Clients appreciate I am able to be myself in session and communicate assertively, even when the message I'm delivering is difficult to hear.

I primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other similar approaches in session, such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), as well as others to fit the needs of the client.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
