More about Lydia

  • 10 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMHC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with 10 plus years of experience in providing direct mental health and behavioral counseling, as well as substance abuse. I gained my experience in a residential substance use treatment program providing individual, family, and group therapies while focusing on co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges. As I entered my professional career, I began providing services in psychiatric units, detox/residential inpatient and outpatient treatment, and community health care.

During this time, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan. I have provided intensive in-home and community-based therapy for adults with significant and persistent mental illness with co-occurring substance use issues, as well as, general outpatient mental health and substance use treatment. My primary areas of interest and focus have been related to trauma/abuse, depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, and stress management.

I believe that all individuals are heavily influenced by our closest relationships, communities, environment, systems (family, work, school, church, etc) and personal experiences. I strive to treat the therapeutic relationship, and you, with compassion, respect, and warmth.

My therapy style and approach is influenced by Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy primarily, Motivational Interviewing Techniques, person centered therapy and a Christian Biblical approach. It is important to me to be able to collaborate with you to tailor my treatment and approach to what works best for you. Setting and realizing your goals is a team-effort, and together we will work at your comfort level to effectively establish and achieve goals that make sense for your life. Whether you’re on an altruistic path of self-discovery, or ultimately looking to alleviate symptoms for a better quality of life, together we can work to achieve your goals!
