More about Katrina

  • 4 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCPC, LCMHC

I am licensed in Illinois and North Carolina with 4 years of professional work experience. As a Marine Corps spouse of 23 years, I have had the pleasure of gaining professional experience in a variety of therapeutic settings working with both military and civilian populations. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in many areas to include substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, conduct and behavior problems, self-esteem, motivation, relationship and communication issues, parenting, children with special needs, intensive alternative family treatment, intensive in-home therapy, emotion regulation, and anger management.

I believe the counseling relationship is both powerful and delicate. With this in mind, I truly value the time spent working with clients in a collaborative effort to achieve therapeutic goals.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
