Need some help?

Stuck in grief?

Feeling stressed from work or life’s hecticness? Would you like to learn some new techniques to reset and boost your resilience?

Feeling really low for too long? Would you like to revive your energy levels?

Want to stop feeling so anxious?

Welcome and thank you for clicking onto my profile. I understand that looking for, and reaching out to a counsellor can be daunting and you may be a little apprehensive.

Counselling is not about me giving you advice, rather me working with you to find your own answers. Therefore, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is of upper-most importance.

I will provide you with a comfortable, safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Your journey of self-discovery could lead you to the empowerment of being able to make any necessary changes.

About Me

Prior to training as a Counsellor I worked for many years with the Police (and since qualifying as a Counsellor I work a lot with emergency services employees). Alongside this, my hobby and interest was in health and fitness. I worked in health clubs and taught fitness classes. I focused on physical health and gained a real passion for well-being and helping people. From here, I began incorporating mental well-being, as I began to believe that the mind and body works together. It led me to starting my counselling training in 2010 and so I genuinely come from a holistic approach. My core training was gained at The University of Hull and Leeds Beckett University. Since then I have progressed through the levels. I place an emphasis on Continual Professional Development and so I attend regular training courses and workshops to update my knowledge and skills.

Experience

I have experience of working with clients on issues such as Loss and Bereavement at Cruse Bereavement Care and have worked with Anxiety and Depression on an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) NHS initiative.

I am an Affiliate Counsellor for several Employee Assistance Programme Providers (EAP's) of which I work with issues of Work Related Stress.

In 2022 I have been audited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and passed. This means that they check to see that I am working ethically and meet their high standard which safeguards you as a client.

I am also a BACP ACCREDITED Counsellor. BACP accreditation schemes aim to recognise the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy.

As well as my work with BetterHelp, I work a lot with self-referral private clients on a wide range of issues in my own private practice (A New Horizon).

How I Work

I am currently working over the Telephone/Video on the Betterhelp platform. I also offer Live Chat.

I work on a one-to-one basis in a person-centred way. This means that I offer the conditions of congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regard. I work from an integrative perspective which means that I use tools from other theoretical approaches in which ever way suits you, as an individual client, the best as I believe that people are unique and therefore there is no ‘one size fits all' approach.

I can offer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) looking at your negative, automatic thoughts and the impact on your feelings and behaviours. We can explore coping strategies, that work for you, for the short term and look at ways for you to live more positively.

I also work with clients long term exploring and addressing the root cause of the issue(s). This can be open ended (not time limited).

Are you ready to make a change?

If you have an issue that is holding you back from living your life to the full then please do not hesitate get in touch. I value helping people and have a passion for supporting clients through their problems. Having someone, that is not a family member, to walk alongside you, can help.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
