More about Alan

  • 11 years' experience
  • Male
  • LPC

I am licensed in Oregon with 10 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with relationship issues, family conflicts, parenting issues, & anger management. I work mostly in the Cognitive Behavioral therapy approach.

I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

I generally check messages here once in the evenings M-Th and respond once as quickly as possible. I appreciate your patience when it takes a bit longer at times, as I may be tending to other work, other clients, or professional/ personal responsibilities. On Fridays and Saturday mornings, I tend to have more availability, and I generally check messages here a few times. Again, I will attempt to respond once as quickly as I'm able to, sometimes more!

Please remember that Better Help or specialty sites are not appropriate if you are in crisis or in immediate need of support. In crisis situations please call 911 or local emergency services. You can also call 1 800 273-TALK (8255) to talk to someone right away!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
