Ian has been incredibly patient and a great listener. I have really valued the space to share things that I haven't been able to tell anyone else and I have really appreciated the work that we have done.

Ian is a very kind and caring person who provided a safe place where I felt able to tell him anything. He is a great listener and clearly understood what I’m going through, which helped me to then think about my problems from a clear perspective and begin to cope with some of these issues.

I am an integrative counsellor with a focus on person-centred and existential therapy.

I work with a wide range of concerns and challenges including stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement and feeling overwhelmed. I offer short and longer term work, with both types being effective.

I have always been fascinated by how our minds and emotions work, how our past experiences can influence us and how we make sense of the world.

I have trained as a Person-Centred counsellor and an Integrative counsellor (specialising in existential therapy.)

The Person-Centred approach suggests that being in an accepting, understanding and honest therapeutic relationship can bring about personal change, the existential therapy proposes that we are unique individuals with our own personal questions on how to live our lives.

Because we are all different, everybody will have their own focus on what they want from therapy.

I will strive to understand your experiences from your point of view without judgement. We can look at how things have been for you, how they are for you and how you want them to be. I will offer my thoughts and ideas as possibility’s so you can choose what is helpful for you and we can work together to achieve the results you want.

Sometimes you know what you want from therapy, sometimes you have an idea, and other times you don’t know at all, and that’s ok too.

I work from my own private office based in Cornwall. I have cats and dogs and really appreciate the country side, in addition to my academic interests, I enjoy carpentry, gardening and boardgames.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Kind, empathetic and an excellent listener. I have valued having a safe place to share my thoughts and feelings without judgement and have felt comfortable enough to share things that I haven’t told anyone else. For the first time in a long time, I have felt heard and this has had a big impact on how I feel about myself. We have talked about lots of issues and Ian has asked questions that have made me think about things from a different perspective. I was sceptical about how useful therapy would be, but this is a really positive experience and I would recommend working with Ian.
