I have been working with Michael for only a few months now, but I have quickly grown to trust him with even the most delicate matters. As someone with a trauma history, I usually find it not easy to trust. Michael is an excellent active listener, will respectfully self-disclose in small doses to stay relatable and human, while displaying solid knowledge and expertise in relational therapy. He truly is the whole package, top expertise and experience paired with an admirable personality. Warmly recommended!

More about Michael

I'm an Integrative Psychotherapist with over 25 years experience. I am also an Accredited Teacher of Mindfulness with over 30 years experience. I invite clients to use intentional awareness to frame issues of identity and purpose and to facilitate meaningful positive change in their lives - towards a 'solution focus'.

The essence of my practice is 'person-centred' in that I am always led by the client's needs and 'issues' as presented to me. In this way 'therapy' is always grounded in the trans-formative power of trusting and collaborative relationships.

My practice is also 'trauma Informed' in that our presenting problems are often linked to the underlying effects of prior/present trauma. Such trauma can be healed through 'present-centred' body awareness that may incorporate a mindful practice coupled with a reflective dialogue to reframe meaning and direction to our lives

The Mindfulness element of my practice is seen 'merely' as 'intentional awareness' which experience shows can be applied by degrees from moment-to-moment as an enabling agent to help us to see our patterns of 'stuckness' - at the heart of many problems - and to move beyond them. Intentional awareness harnesses the simplicity of our own present awareness to see patterns of thoughts and behaviour and to help us to embrace a 'solution' that we can envision.

My own experience has shown that our suffering through a myriad of life problems can act as a 'prompt' for us to examine issues of 'identity' and 'purpose'. These can be of a Trans-personal nature and can also be transformed through our own awakening - through the gateway of a present-centred intentional awareness.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Although I’m only two sessions in, I’m extremely satisfied with Michael as a therapist. He strikes a strong - and natural - balance between professional and personable, which is perfect for his person-centred, humanistic approach to counselling. Michael’s expertise and experience runs parallel with a patient and entirely non-judgemental disposition. His words are every bit as grounding and relatable as they are learned and well-informed. For me, that’s the working definition of worthy help in regards to therapy.
