COUNSELLOR, COACH & PSYCHOTHERAPIST

I am an experienced and fully qualified counsellor, psychotherapist and coach based in the UK.

I work predominantly with women who want to make positive changes in their lives. Women who want to make better life choices, changes and decisions. My specialisms are equipping women the practical tools and strategies so they can manage their own mental health and wellbeing. I have over 10 years experience working with people to help them manage their stress, anxiety, low mood and lack of motivation.

I enable women go from a place of feeling stuck and hopeless, to a space where they can trust themselves again and find more inner-peace and contentment.

Often the women I work with are women who want to make changes but are struggling to know how or where to start. They feel overwhelmed and stuck. I help them make the changes they most need and long for.

MY APPROACH

I draw upon a variety of approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Approach, Writing Therapy, Guided Relaxations/Visualisations & Mindfulness. If clients feels they would benefit from exercises and techniques, such as guided relaxations and breathing exercises then I am happy to facilitate this during our sessions.

Depending on the needs of the client I love to introduce creative ways of working into our sessions. I believe that when we draw upon our own creativity and imagination powerful and transformative change and insights can occur.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If you want to make significant changes in your life you need to be willing to show up and do the work. If you keep doing the same things, you will just keep getting the same results. It’s important for all people to recognise that the real work happens in-between our sessions. This is why I will often set practical tasks, experiments and exercises for you do in-between sessions.

I encourage clients to keep a journal, if this is something that feels helpful for you to do.

To get the best out of the sessions it is important that we can both be as open and honest with each other as possible. I encourage you to share with me what is working, but also what isn’t working for you.

TRAINING

I qualified in 2017 with a Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy. This was an integrative and relational course.

Solution Focused Training September 2021 with ACPT

EXPERIENCE

I currently work as a Student Counsellor for a Leeds University three days a week. Before becoming a Student Counsellor I worked as a Wellbeing Practitioner at the university for over 4 years.

This means I have had a great deal of experience supporting people with various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and motivation.

Before working for the University I delivered wellbeing courses out in the community. I have delivered over forty courses, including a seven week Head Space course, Mindfulness, Introduction to Counselling and Meditation and Relaxation at the Psychiatric Hospital in Leeds.

For 18 months (2018-20) I facilitated a successful mental health drop-in group called Peaceful Minds.

I offer appointments on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evening.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
