He’s been patient with me and has really helped me understand myself and how my mind works. He’s taken time to explain different things to me, different methods to help me manage my emotions, feelings and anxiety. Couldn’t recommend him more!

More about Byron

  • 7 years' experience

My approach is warm and practical and is informed by different therapeutic models.

I am a pluralistic counsellor: What that means, really, is that I use different approaches depending on what works best for you and we aren't bound by one single approach. In the first session, we create an understanding about what is important for you and clearly define what you would like from the sessions. We then regularly review the direction of your sessions to see that things are moving in the direction that you would like. The advantage of my approach is that we can change the way that we approach problems based on how therapy develops.

My philosophy around counselling is that it is your journey and that you are the expert of your own experience, My role is to offer a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space where the problem can be understood through different lenses and tools. Common approaches I use to help clients include Mindfulness-Based approaches, CBT, Psychodynamic Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Counselling and Humanistic approaches.

I have experience in working short-term (even planned single-session therapy) and long-term work depending on what is wanted. However, there is always a focus to sessions with an understanding of why the meetings are taking place.

My background is Behavioural Management and Support Work with over 10 years experience. I am educated to BSc degree and hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have post-qualification Diplomas in CBT, REBT, Child and Adolescent Counselling, Solution-Focused Couples Counselling, and Mindfulness Competency to Teach Diplomas for Children and Adults.

I look forward to meeting with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
