I don’t normally like talking about myself (it makes me feel self-conscious and awkward), but I feel safe around Carys because I never receive the judgement I tend to expect. She is very understanding and makes my thoughts and feelings feel less trivial.

Reviewed March 2025

Carys seemed to "get me" very quickly. I was very encouraged by this. She was very empathetic and surprised me by agreeing with the depth of my issues. She addressed two main issues and helped me to see clearly how they were dually affecting me. I was very impressed by her questions. They were deep and perceptive and really caused me to organise my thoughts and pathways.

More about Carys

  • 6 years' experience

I am an experienced, qualified Therapeutic Counsellor with several years of counselling experience. I am able to work online and face 2 face. I have experience working with Children and Young people and men and women of all ages, backgrounds, cultures because of my work in a variety of sectors. I have worked within various counselling organisations and schools, offering individual therapy and support to those that need it most. Additionally, I also have experience as a Christian counsellor. Therefore I am comfortable talking about spiritual beliefs.

I hold an MSC in Counselling Children and Young people and hold a BSC Degree in Psychology. Furthermore, I have completed my BACP Certificate of Proficiency text

I have completed a range of additional CDP training in areas such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, mindfulness-based practice, and attachment in practice. As a result, I have a wide range of experience in counselling, both working with children & young people, families and adults.

I have worked within a variety of talking therapies and am currently working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and practising privately.

I am trained integratively, which means I draw upon several theoretical approaches to counselling. I do not hold the view that one stand-alone theory can adequately offer my clients the flexibility to work with the many presenting issues they may need support with.

Counselling should be as individual as you are, so I collaborate with you to tailor therapy sessions that feel right for you. I offer a safe and confidential space in a supportive atmosphere to help attain the personal growth you are looking for. I will listen to your personal experience and walk with you on your journey to change.

Throughout therapy, I shall offer you unconditional support, reflections and insight to help you gain a new perspective on your life. In addition, I aim to support you in discovering new ways of thinking to increase your confidence and enable you to find your own way forward.

I conduct frequent reviews to check out how we are doing, what is helpful, unhelpful, etc, as the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client is the most critical factor for a successful outcome.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
