Gillian really helped me through a difficult time when I was very overwhelmed and full of confusion and self-doubt. She was always very calm and good humoured and really good at gently getting me to examine what was going on in my life. I never felt any pressure or judgement and always came away feeling better and more able to cope.

More about Gillian

Hello, my name is Gillian, a warm welcome to you and thank you for taking a moment to read more about me and exploring if I am a suitable choice to work alongside you.

I am a qualified counsellor and have experience of working with a broad range of clients of different ages, cultural backgrounds and belief systems.

I currently work within the NHS Macmillan counselling team and with Cruse Bereavement Support. Through this work I have gained a varied and wide range of experience working with clients who have suffered depression, anxiety, loss, grief and health issues such as cancer, being alongside them from diagnosis and treatment, including palliative care. In addition, I have experience of working with clients who have bipolar disorder, mental health symptoms, brain injury trauma, substance and alcohol misuse and other presenting issues.

I work as a Person-Centred therapist which is based on the view that everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change given the right therapeutic conditions.

At times, through our own individual life experiences, there can be a multitude of emotions which may all come at once. This can often be overwhelming and confusing leading to feelings of “it is all too much”!

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and I don't believe in stigmatising labels. The sessions are guided by you as each person is unique and I believe you hold your own individual needs at different times in your life. I respect this and offer a confidential, warm open space to explore your feelings and thoughts. Working alongside you in co-creating a therapeutic relationship based on empathy and acceptance in a non-judgemental environment, I endeavour to create a space for you to explore your feelings and develop at your own pace. By doing so, can create a natural healing process, forming and promoting changes from within.

Ultimately my belief is that, given the right conditions, everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change leading to living a more fulfilling life.

It takes courage to take the first steps toward change, if you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you.

You are welcome to have a initial to explore if you feel comfortable to work together.

Warmest wishes

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
