Thank you for visiting my profile. I am a trained and qualified therapist working with adults, children, teenagers and young people. I work integratively, employing the main theoretical disciplines, but predominantly use person-centred, CBT, Solutions-focussed, Psychodynamic and Creative therapies. This means I am flexible and able to adapt my approach specifically to suit you and your needs. No two people are the same and no two counselling journeys are the same; everyone is unique.

I am warm, caring and easy to talk to. I will always try to make you feel at ease and am genuine and compassionate, my aim is to listen with care and support you in exploring your difficulties. Very much we will be working together collaboratively. I see my place as providing a safe space and environment for you to look at and talk through areas of difficulty or worry. The time we spend together will be responsive to and guided by you.

I don't shy away from challenge in helping you explore and understand yourself and your thoughts and actions but do this always in a gentle, collaborative investigative way, helping you to understand and challenge yourself better. Therapy will be directed towards exploring your goals, aims and wishes and I encourage you to always talk to me and tell me if my approach or anything I do isn't working for you. Therapy is for you and so it has to respond to you and your needs.

Having read this far, I totally understand that starting counselling can be daunting and a trip into the unknown - please know, I am happy to answer any questions you may have and I hope that knowing what to expect will help you feel comfortable to get started with counselling. You can ask questions at any time and I actively encourage you to message me in between sessions with any thoughts, questions, worries or anything you want to share. I always answer as soon as I possibly can, certainly within 24hours. I know it can be frustrating waiting for a reply but please bear with me if I can't answer quickly - I will always answer. The only exception would be if I am marked as away on vacation.

In our first session together we will talk through what you want from your sessions and how we might work together. Our work together will always be guided by and responsive to you and your needs.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Kim was my therapist last year too. She is patient kind and understanding. When I can't put my thoughts into words she asks questions to help me better understand what I'm actually feeling. I was able to understand myself more from her. Now I am going through another traumatic experience and I don't have the emotional support I need. I thought about Kim straight away and signed up again.

I was initially apprehensive about therapy, however, I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and I was struggling not only with the symptoms but with a lot of shame and guilt around those symptoms. Kim is extremely well-informed about ADHD, and has helped me rethink my relationship with shame and has taught me to have more compassion for myself. We have only met for 2 sessions, however, I look forward to the progress we can make together regarding all of my personal life goals.

Kim has completely changed my life! I went from having my severe ADHD completely control my life, interfering with everything and making me depressed, to now being mentally stable and happy with where I am! She was extremely empathetic and amazing at challenging my own negative beliefs about myself. I have done a few months of therapy with her and I now talk very reasonably and positively about myself, I can handle stressful situations and I am happy with where my life is going!

Kim is well experienced with Neuro Diverse people and is able to bring her expertise in this area to add the perspective required in counselling me wisely in the special challenges being autistic brings alongside the normal challenges of daily life. She is kind and gentle in her suggestions and very receptive and incisive with her insights, which is extremely helpful in untangling the challenges life brings and finding a way through them.

Kim has been a true life saver for me. When I’m anxious she helps me find the right perspective. She encourages me when I need it, and she’s not afraid to put my feet back on the ground (in the most gentle way possible) when I’m overreacting. Especially recommended for anyone who struggles with ADHD, I feel like she really understands what it’s like to have ADHD, and I can share my issues without feeling ashamed or stupid.

Kim is a skilled therapist with a range of tools and approaches, understands things which many therapists do not, I have experienced improvements in my general functioning through an extremely bad time via our sessions. She has listened to my to me and my accounts of prior therapy I'd had with therapists in the past that had been unhelpful a d has tailored her approach to make up for things that have been missing from my care in the past. She is extremely non judgemtal, I needed some unconditional positive regard, and got it, though she knows when to appropriately challenge my plans and assumptions when needed as well in a kind and insightful way.

Kim and I seem to have connected very quickly. I am autistic and have a background in psychology and have had two other therapists/counsellors in the past so I am used to the format. It is very useful to be able to use chat as my emotions often get in the way of my ability to communicate verbally. In general she is able to reflect my position back to me within one or two attempts and that is very encouraging that I am understood.

Reviewed January 2022

Kim has been such a blessing to hold sessions with. Having had one false start in work-assistance counselling support, I decided to try again through Betterhelp and was extremely fortunate to have been paired with Kim at the very first go. She was authentic, natural, warm and empathetic--exactly the sort of person I had hoped for. Kim helped me with gentle lines of questioning to probe some of the entrenched thinking that I never even realised about myself, and just knowing that I was going to be having a session with her allowed me to analyse what exactly my struggles, as well as wins, were for myself during a tough time--I found a lot of positivity through our sessions, something I desperately needed to find once again. She was quick to send suggestions of activities and paperwork that suited me based on our conversations, which was a bonus for a very written-word-based, plan-making person like myself. Thanks so much Kim. You've been just what I needed to start off my 2022 the right way.
