BACP (UK) 10 yrs

20 years UK Registered Mental Health Nurse (retired)

MSc (Distinction in Public Health, behaviour change)

BSc (Hons) Psychology

I am trained in Gestalt therapy - a psychodynamic approach, a holistic approach. I also practice solution focussed therapy and have developed and facilitated therapy groups including stress management, sleep management, coping with hearing voices, etc. You will also benefit from my knowledge and experiences as a mental health nurse in adult mental health, 8 years nursing people living with advanced dementia, and supporting their families and loved ones. I cared for my mother for 5 years following a traumatic brain injury, and so I also know the joy, frustration, loss, sadness, laughter, legacies and love involved.

I hold accredited Advanced Clinical Supervision qualification.

I access Continuing Professional Development each year. In 2023: positive psychology techniques, psychological trauma related to domestic violence, anxiety management integrating CBT and exposure responses (GAD, panic disorder, social anxiety and phobias), autism international symposium (including polyvagal theory to improve social engagement, increase emotional regulation, and reduce anxiety), anti-oppressive practice, trauma, shame, grief/bereavement, solution focussed therapy, dream interpretation (Freud/Jung approach), and suicide prevention.

What you can expect from me:

I will provide you a professional and non-judgemental service. I will support you to gently and sensitively explore your life as it was, as it is now, and what you want for your future.

I use Gestalt psychodynamic therapy, solution focussed therapy, and evidence-based tools and techniques from BetterHelp and from my own resources to support you to develop a sense of integration, significance, and validation, through insight and the safety of a therapeutic relationship.

**********

Therapy experience:

Relationship issues; depression; anxiety; abuse within intimate relationships; self-harming; being or becoming a carer; grief and bereavement, including when grief starts to become complicated; career change; bullying at work; narcissistic abuse; narrative journaling and self-compassion; achieving academically; neurodivergence; enhancing emotional health knowledge; chronic sleep disturbance; ageing with vitality; enduring mental ill health and living well.

Example treatment plan:

* support you to explore why you are feeling the way you are, and your thoughts and behaviours;

* examine what is personally meaningful to you, your core values, beliefs, and personal boundaries;

* help you examine in a safe place what your main goals are in coming to therapy;

* set small goals with you which will support and encourage you, and help you learn from what does not work;

* help you to develop a wellbeing mindset for your future which aims to support you after your therapy ends.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
