Welcome! My name is Maria and I am a licensed professional counsellor and psychotherapist in the UK. I have been working as a psychotherapist/ counsellor for 7 years in Greece and in the UK, with adults who experience a variety of mental health issues, including: self- confidence, bereavement, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship problems, abuse, self- actualisation.
I have studied Applied Psychology and hold a Master’s Degree focused on Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from University of Derby.
My experience started in Greece, working individually with people and also working as a group co-facilitator with people with psychotic disorders in a psychiatric clinic. Moreover, I have been co-facilitating smoke cessation group therapy, using psychodrama. My most recent group work in the UK is focused on facilitating anxiety and depression groups.
I have been working with people who have acquired brain injuries and have a strong background of working with people from several different backgrounds.
I have been working with NHS and IAPT services, providing people brief therapy, either solution- focused/ cognitive behavioural or counselling.
Recently, I have started mentoring students and providing support regarding any difficulties they may experience at college.
My approach is integrative, with a focus on person- centred theory, meaning that I am paying attention to each person’s unique needs by creating a professional setting that enables people to be fully listened and accepted.

I have been seeing Maria for 9 months now, and I am extremely grateful for the help and support she has provided me. From the very beginning, Maria has been a kind and compassionate therapist who truly cares about her clients. She has helped me work through a number of difficult issues related to self-confidence, self-esteem, self-worth, and friendships. One of the things I appreciate most about Maria is her ability to really listen to what I have to say and help me work through my thoughts and feelings.
