My name is David Arabie, and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2004. I have been in the mental health field since 1987, working in a variety of treatment settings. I knew in order to be a quality therapist, I would need to have experience in a multitude of treatment environments. I have worked in Residential Living Centers, Inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, in private practice, for the State of Texas as a monitor of substance abuse treatment facilities throughout Texas, and within the confines of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). I have worked with adults of all ages, from 18 to 85. I hold firm to the ideals and theoretical approach of Solution-Focused Therapy. I firmly believe that counseling is all about resolution. My approach is to identify problems that need to be addressed, process how these issues effect your everyday life, come up with some viable solutions to resolve those issues, try them out in the world, evaluate what worked and what did not, and get to a point in life where are issues are no longer consuming our lives, but we are consuming life in a way that is both comfortable and meaningful. I see myself as a compass - you are the Captain. I can make suggestions on what path to take, but it is you that is steering the ship. Once we have reached the destination you choose, the reward and accomplishment is yours. No one ever thanks the Navigation System for their safe travels; they always thank the Captain. I can hopefully provide you with some navigation, and you can reap the rewards of successfully finding peace and harmony in your life.
