Kathy is a very warm and friendly therapist! I experienced none of the cold clinical feelings that some people fear when starting up therapy. We worked together for a brief time, but I feel even just our few sessions gave me a lot of much needed perspective and helpful strategies. I would definitely recommend her if you’re looking for a therapist who feels like a friend! Thank you, Kathy :)

Hello, it is nice to meet you. My name is Kathy, and I live in Knoxville, TN. I have 33 years of experience working in the mental health profession and over 25 years of practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have extensive knowledge in the treatment of depression, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, anger management, low self-esteem, relationship issues, ADHD and substance use. I have had the opportunity and privilege to work with individuals and couples dealing with difficult life circumstances, unexpected changes and past/present trauma. Over the course of my career, I have assisted individual in learning to manage some of the most difficult and often life-altering situations.
My approach combines cognitive behavioral, person-centered and psychodynamic therapy. I am particularly interested in the use of cognitive behavioral therapy as I firmly believe in the connection between our thoughts and how they affect our functioning. I will approach each visit with an open mind and non-judgmental attitude. I have had many former clients report that I am warm, empathetic, compassionate and affable. It is my belief that a strong therapeutic rapport is the foundation for a successful treatment outcome.
I look forward to meeting you soon and am so glad that you have decided to take this step forward in your journey towards better mental health.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

This was my first session. Kathy listened to my primary concerns. Although, she doesn't have expertise with eating disorders, her knowledge was better than some "experts" I have seen in the past. I look forward to our next session.
I love being able to speak freely. Kathy has similar experiences This makes therapy so helpful and essential as I am greiving the loss of my mom.

She's great!
Kathy is a pragmatic and straight forward therapist, who assisted me very practically in resolving some habitual negative thought patterns that had disrupted the quality of my life experiences. Many thanks to Kathy for guiding me with some CBT techniques to assist me. I know where to come in the future for any assistance if i need it.

I have always been the type of person that thought therapist any kind wasn't for me until I decided I should give it a try. Kathy has definitely made this experience worth while and I honestly look forward to the week conversation and in three weeks I am already seeing improvement in myself. Thank you Kathy.

Kathy is wonderful, she listens and provides valuable feedback and strategies to help overcome your obstacles. Highly recommend!
Kathy is so helpful. I have done therapy for years and had many therapists. Kathy is one of the best. She has pointed out things I didn’t see and offers solutions to those issues.
She knows what she's doing.
Kathy has been very patient and helpful to me. She responds to me with good advice and that's made a huge difference in working through a very difficult time for me. Like guiding me through a dark room. My experience has been very positive.
Kathy has a calm and effective way of getting me to talk and see how to unravel problems in my own mind. When I get stuck and can’t see how to make sense of it, she is there to propose possibilities and help me figure out what’s going on and how to improve the situation. She is kind and compassionate.
i love Mrs. Kathy so much!
It's still early but I feel Kathy is attentive and professional but approachable and down to earth. I am surprised how practical therapy can be and I appreciate the resources and tips she has given me. I'm looking forward to future sessions.
Kathy is a true expert, incisive and an incredibly intuitive and gifted therapist. I have had hundreds of hours of therapy with many different psychotherapists and even psychiatrists practicing psychotherapy; across many different modalities, including extensive EMDR to very little avail, diagnosed with everything including depression, anxiety, BPD traits, c-ptsd and ADD; with minimal success. This was because the root causes of my pain was not adequately targeted or identified, as having been in relationship codependency and possibly relationship addiction as well. Things that no other therapist in my last 10 years have been able to help me pinpoint. I was so close to collapse and Kathy has an amazing gift for helping those close to collapse, people like me that have aimlessly tried nearly a dozen different professionals. She is a true diamond, and I am so glad to have found her through BetterHelp. Thank you for everythjng
I followed Kathy here from the office. The last two years, she has helped me cope with tough situations, encouraged me, has been working on my confidence in and out of the work setting, and is truly someone I am comfortable confiding in. Kathy has helped me improve my mental health in day to day situations as well as in my relationships, etc. I can’t thank Kathy enough for always being a great listener and advisor!
Years of self help, meditation, and reflection got me to a point where I could accept outside help. Sessions with Kathy have been informative, constructive, and exactly what I was going for.
Kathy is wondering. I felt like she really listened to me and understood what I was needing at the moment. Kathy made it so easy to open up and I never felt like she judged me. Truly she was a big help!
Kathy does a wonderful job. She is extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, accessible, and patient.
Kathy is amazing. She validated my feelings, suggested great feedback and has a great humor. She is a great therapist and I would recommend her to anyone!
I’ve had 2 completely different sessions with Kathy and I already greatly value her insight and appreciate that she absolutely listens to my concerns and had offered great tools with dealing with the different things I’ve brought up to her. I’ve had a lot of very life changing things occur in the past 2 months and was afraid I couldn’t handle them all at once but Kathy has given me the tools to think about things in a different way and helping me to heal. I would recommend her to anyone going through past trauma, addiction or grief. I’m happy I decided to do this.
