I am a licensed clinical social worker. I also have a doctorate degree in philosophy with an emphasis on social work practice. I have over a decade of experience working in the mental health field assisting individuals of all ages with a wide range of concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, emotional/behavioral challenges, attachment or parenting concerns, etc.).
I believe that there is not a one-size-fits all type of treatment and that it is important to tailor services to fit each individual. Therefore, I use a client-centered approach while utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques to address the presenting concerns. These clinical approaches include cognitive behavioral, psycho-educational, mindfulness, attachment therapy, and more.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I have been incredibly supportive of Dr. Wiersma’s support. I appreciate her text check-in, too!!
She is very good when you are talking to her during a session on the phone, and presumably during a video call as well. However, she comes off a bit detached in her texts. Although she does check in on you every couple of days, which is nice of her to do.
Dr. Wiersma has been a beam of sunshine in a very gray world. I’m extremely grateful to have been matched with someone who not only listens but truly wants to help and support me during these turbulent times. Couldn’t recommend her more strongly
