I began working in the field at a VA Hospital Indiana psychiatric unit at the age of 18. My official first mental health job was at a psychiatric inpatient unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1977 when I was 22. From there I was hired at the local mental health center and worked the next 40 years. I retired in from my job of 40 years in 2018 but have continued to do private practice. I have a passion to work with people who need therapy. I am excited to keep working in the field of counseling. My specialties include, trauma counseling, grief work, anxiety disorders, depression and LGBTQ issues. I specifically love to take Trauma cases and people who have anxiety disorders. Since the pandemic began, I have done Telehealth services from my home and in the private practice office. Better Help with its focus on telehealth is the perfect place for me to work. I enjoy being a therapist because I feel it was the path I was meant to follow. I look forward to accepting new clients.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Although my time with Art has been brief, I couldn't recommend his services enough. I find him to be incredibly patient and actively listens to you, giving you all the time you need to talk. He also provides great insight and clearly has a great amount of experience helping people. It is very clear that he is extremely effective in helping people to find the tools they need to work through their problems and I'm grateful that I was matched with him. This has been my first experience with therapy, but I would be more than happy to recommend his services.
Arthur is such a genuine and understanding person. Highly recommend him to anyone!
I am in my early stages of therapy. Arthur Hastings has been great. He is easy to talk to and caring, I’m looking forward to more sessions with him.
I vibe very well with Arthur. I explained to him how I respond to certain things and/or comments and he adjusted his style to fit me as opposed to expecting me to adjust mine which I liked a lot. This small, but large gesture allows me to be more open and vulnerable so we can get to the crux of whatever is bothering me.
Art has all the needed tools and experience to help people work through their issues. He's personable and attentive. Very helpful in my own troubles.
Seems like a intelligent stand up guy with alot of insight.
Arthur is absolutely amazing. He is easy to talk to. I am not greatest at opening up but Walter asks me the right question when we are talking to get me to dive deeper into the things I am having issues with and has really been helping me sort through somethings
Arthur is very responsive and a compassionate listener.
Listens well and I feel no judgement for anything I might say. I’ve only had two sessions but I feel as though I can trust him.
This is my first time here and I have to say that within just a handful of sessions, Arthur has helped me in a way that I could never repay. Thank you Arthur for all you do for everyone.
Art is a great man and therapist. He is very experienced, personable, and helpful. He listens very well and let's you decide where you want the focus to be. Highly recommend working with him.
Honestly, best therapist for someone who’s never been to therapy, he’s calming, works through things, and helps figure certain problems you may have, not to mention he’s very relatable and reliable. I give him a 10/10!
He’s been a very good therapist since I’ve been with him. He has really helped me since we’ve started talking
Arthur has continued to display knowledge in his profession, as well as professionalism during our sessions. It is a pleasure to speak him, as we continue to become acquainted.

Arthur has been a very helpful therapist by providing and has helped me a lot through our talk therapy sessions. He is very qualified and knowledgeable and would recommend him for clients who need someone skilled to help through difficult times
Art is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and supportive. He is great at balancing when to speak and listen, as well as when to be sincere or help spark levity. I highly recommend him as a guide to overcome stressors or traumatic experiences.
Arthur is a very responsive, thoughtful and caring therapist and able to address all of my varied issues and concerns.
In the very first session I had with Art, I knew I was going to enjoy having him on my side. He’s been wonderful helping me work through the issues I came to BetterHelp for. I would highly recommend him!
My therapist is very invested in my well being as a patient and as an individual . This means a lot to me .
When I started better help I really need to have some hope and regain my balance etc, everything felt chaotic and I couldn’t see how can I get myself get better. Art is so easy to speak to and also very experienced and knowledgeable. He is also very empathetic and understanding. Right away I felt hopeful and that is what I needed the most at the time. And more I see him and contemplate and try new skills I learn that also make me feel more positive and empowering. I am so grateful
