Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! My name is Lynnette and I applaud you for beginning this journey we call therapy. Whether you’re new to the therapy experience or you’ve been in therapy before, I am here to help you along your journey to wellness and wholeness. I have a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago and over 35 years of professional experience. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and have engaged individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, interpersonal and family conflict as well as parent-child relationships. I have also helped clients improve self-esteem, coping skills, adjust to major life changes as well as improve problem-solving and decision-making skills. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are the primary approaches utilized and clients are encouraged to actively participate in the therapy process by setting their own goals and evaluating progress towards achieving them. Finally, I am concerned about all aspects of a client’s life including your physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being. Therefore, nothing is “off-limits” during therapy, and I encourage clients to bring any issue/concern they may have to therapy sessions. Thank you for allowing me to share my background with you. I have daytime, evening, and weekend hours to meet your needs and look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Lynnette is so friendly and made me feel comfortable opening up pretty fast. I haven't had the best experience with therapy in the past so it's nice to talk to someone who really cares about what you are saying and is also knowledgeable and polite. She has been great with scheduling and always on time to our sessions. She makes therapy feel like talking to a friend while also being professional.

I did not have much time with her but the session I had was fulfilling and I really felt like she was listening to me.

Reviewed May 2022

I have only had 3 sessions with Lynnette, but I would highly recommend her. I deal with anxiety and thus far, she had recommended quite a few self-care truths, relaxation techniques and meditation tools. She puts great emphasis on self-care, which I lack in my life. She is a wealth of information and quite knowledgeable in many areas. I appreciate her candor, insight, and her caring ways. I feel we are making headway, in probing where a lot of my anxiety comes from. We are working to help me manage my anxiety better, so thank you Lynnette.

Lynnette Thomas has been the most competent, productive, and proactive health care professional I have ever met. I am twenty five and have been under the care of health professionals since before I was teen. No one has ever shown the stability and insight that Lynnette does. I don't doubt a single thing about her credentials and experience. I know that she can help me break down anything I bring to her and find the root cause. I've wanted to love the experience of my health care and make progress and I finally can.

I just wanted to give you a big thanks and a virtual hug for all your insights, words of encouragement, and all the positive reinforcements/affirmations. I didn't realize that I was holding on to so much baggage until we talked. Also, I have a different perspective on my life as a husband, father, and individual. I am learning to be more intentional about life in general because as you mentioned, things don't fall into place. My goal is to continue trying to strengthen my marriage and build my confidence as a father and individual. Thank you!!

Lynnette did an amazing job getting me comfortable with therapy, as a first time for me. I was able to open up and talk about things i never knew were even an issue. That really helped me understand why I struggle with the things I struggled with. She helped with different topics, always open minded and offered tons of guidance through each session. Very appreciative of my time spent with her.

Reviewed November 2022

I only had a few sessions with Lynette but in that short time she gave me lots to think about and lots to chew on, which is exactly what I needed. She was quick to respond to my messages, always lent a listening ear, and even went over my journal entries during our video appointments to check back in with how I was feeling at the time versus how I am feeling now. I appreciate Lynette and her work so much. It's so refreshing to have a therapist who looked like me, somebody who I could relate to and somebody who I felt could relate to me.
