More about Melissa

  • 20 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I am a gay therapist living in a metropolitan city in Texas. My pronouns are she/her. I have over 20 years' experience providing individual and group therapy to adults and seniors Though most of my experience has been in large cities, I do have 5 years' experience providing services in rural communities. While in the rural community I had a radio show focused on mental health.

I worked in hospice and gained experience in grief and end of life issues. In my practice with BetterHelp I see clients with gender dysphoria, self-acceptance, positive body image and alternative lifestyles.

I provide services through chat, phone and video. I prefer video or phone. I feel these give me better rapport with my clients. I am licensed in Texas and I see clients out of the U.S.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Melissa is great! Good listening skills, helpful advice and always available when needed. I was going through a rough patch and she was there to give me some resources to cope with my anxiety. Thank you again.

Reviewed June 2022

Melissa helped me get over a depressing phase of my life. I was going through big changes in my life, including seasonal depression and relationship issues. She was always willing to listen to me and gave good advice. She provided me with worksheets which actively helped me change my negative way of thinking and made me focus on finding healthy coping mechanisms for my anxiety. After our sessions I feel more content with my life and confident for the future. I am very happy i got to meet her and work with her.

Reviewed April 2022

She stood me up on our first session, then never addressed it with me or apologized for being unprofessional. She only works on some days which makes it harder to schedule. She is, however, personable on the phone. She seems like a nice woman and has great reviews other than mine. I am not trying to speak negatively of her, I just feel we got off to a bad start.

Reviewed March 2022

Melissa had helped me a lot in my journey to leave an abusive relationship, so happy I can have her on my side!

Reviewed February 2022

Melissa Morris is changing the way I view life, she makes me feel more confident about myself and helps me with my anxiety. Melissa listens to everything I have to say regardless of how small it is. I also like to share some of my victories with her.
