Sue Frazier-Bear

Welcome to the safety and acceptance of my counseling space. I bring over sixteen years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Mental Health Service Provider. I also bring experience as a training supervisor of those aspiring to be counselors. As a provider who has also sat in the client’s chair in therapy, I bring an understanding of the importance of trust in this very special relationship, which for me, is founded in the belief of dignity and respect for all. Over the years I have studied my craft extensively, and I have honed my counseling skills in concentrated work in education and with psychiatrists, mentors, and other counselors. Yet, it is my work with my clients that has given me the greatest understanding of my purpose as a counseling professional and my place as a support for those clients as they address issues and work to find meaning in the journey. My skills are best employed in individual counseling, where I employ Compassion Focused Therapy.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

It is remarkable to me, just how much my counseler's therapeutic interventions have ushered me through crisis healing and provided me with sound skills for long-term self-maintenance. This phase of growth is highly welcomed! Guided through ways of understanding past and lasting influences, I've entered self-discovery more confidently. With my therapist's support, I continue forward.

So far I've only had 3 sessions and feel they were very productive. I think our sessions can be what we want them to be so I dive right in. I've had therapy in the past and Sue is fantastic! Initially I was concerned with starting over with a new therapist. But I knew for my first session that I had found the right fit. Sue has a lovely calming voice. She allows me to speak while being attentive to our conversations. She truly cares about the delicate nature of my discussions. She is thoughtful yet insightful with her replies. I always feel well cared for with her. She gives me tools to keep me going in-between sessions. I couldn't ask for anything more than I'm currently receiving from Sue.

Not your typical therapist, and that's a GOOD thing. Sue eschews the trope of the stuffy, tight-lipped therapist looking down at you over their glasses in order to get right to the heart of the matter, the part that matters most: the state of the individual, whatever that state may be. Couldn't recommend her more.

Reviewed August 2022

Sessions are always an insightful exploration - by circling to the center of issues/concerns which are current, as well as wading within the streams' undercurrents (unconscious) which may be less apparent though present.

Sue is incredibly welcoming. Her approach is inviting and non-judgemental, while still asking good questions rather than waiting for you to start the conversation. She is knowledgeable and knows how to direct you to appropriate resources to continue improving your mental health.
