I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in Florida with over 6 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, PTSD, career challenges, self-worth issues, and grief. I also helped many people who have experienced chronic health issues or emotional abuse.

My therapy style is warm, accepting and interactive. I believe in treating each individual with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment, psychodynamic and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I signed up to BetterHelp, seeking the support and guidance regarding grief and issues with boundaries. After just 3 sessions with Darlene Averill, I feel stronger and more confident. Darlene is one of the best therapists I’ve had. She truly listens and provides helpful feedback back that shows she is actively working with you to help the situation at hand. She was a light in dark times and helped me stay grounded while also giving tips to help with anxiety outside of sessions when things don’t go as expected. I recommend her and appreciate each session we’ve had together.

She has been excellent, but unfortunately I fell and split my head open and got a severe concussion. I'm not able to complete the worksheets, and focusing on anything is really hard for me

Darlene has helped me to realize a lot about situations that I have been through over the years and help me to understand so much about what I have been going through. There is so much more that I have to learn from her. She listens to me and understands where I am coming from in a way that I have not had the courtesy of having from anyone else. I really feel that with time she will be able to help me in ways that I have needed for a long long time in my life. She makes me feel like I am finally heard and understood for maybe the first time in my life. I should have started getting help like this a long time ago... Thank you Darlene.
