For over 25 years I have had the privilege of supporting others in their journey toward awareness and self improvement. When we are open to looking at patterns of behavior we can uncover barriers to our ideal self.
I utilize a Client Centered approach incorporating Solution Focused Brief Therapy and CBT. I enjoy working with people of all ages and I have experience working with clients in group homes, outpatient settings, crisis situations, families and couples to name just a few.
Most recently I have become interested in the mind-body connection and using Mindfulness and meditation to improve that connection in my personal life and with clients. I have also been trained in hypnotherapy and use those skills as well as guided imagery to support my clients in achieving their goals. It is important to set goals that are achievable. If we create goals that are too big we run the risk of getting overwhelmed and giving up too quickly. I can help create small steps to goals to feel how success feels right from the beginning. I love what I do, helping support people on their journey and I look forward to working with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Katharine has helped me in just 3 sessions! She listens, offers thoughts, gives me questions to think about for the week to come up with the answers myself. Thank you!!!
Understanding and Listens, not pushy.
A vert understanding therapist who listens and cares about your feelings.
I had a phone appointment scheduled with Katharine (Katy) last week. The quality was very garbled as compared to the week prior where it worked fine. Katy suggested a few things but I still could not understand her and we had to terminate the session. She worked me into her schedule for the next day. I really appreciate that because I know that last minute schedule changes are difficult for everyone. Fortunately the next day the internet connection was better. I want Betterhelp to understand that Katy did everything possible to make the phone call work the first day. It is great that the internet cooperated the next day, but if it had not then I would not have been able to have my appointment. Katy offered to do a live chat but I am such a slow typist that we would have accomplished about 5 minutes of communicating during my allotted time. I would like to suggest to Betterhelp that in situations such as mine, if the internet quality does not allow a functional phone call that the therapist be allowed to call the client's cell phone for that phone appointment. Now, back to the subject of Katy's assistance. In addition to being extremely accommodating with scheduling, she is a warm and caring person which is important to me. Katy reminded me of some very basic interpersonal relationship dynamics which was helpful. These are not new concepts to me, but when experiencing a stressful situation it can be very helpful to have a gentle reminder. It still is amazing to me how I can "forget" certain basics when under stress and I appreciate Katy skillfully reminding me. I highly recommend Katharine Childress.
She’s good!
I totally appreciate Katharine, she listens to me, gives great advise. At times I feel like I'm on my couch talking to my friend. Definitely recommend her and I actually have recommended Better help too several people
You can tell she takes a very individualized approach! She listens to my needs and meets me where I am. This is all very new to me but make me feel more comfortable.
