More about Thomas

  • 3 years' experience
  • Male
  • LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 40 years experience trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Jungian Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Adlerian Therapy. I have worked with a variety of different problem issues including childhood sexual/physical trauma, depression/anxiety, self esteem issues, Veteran's issues and more recently couples/relationship concerns,

Many individuals who come to therapy find that life's problems do not neatly fall into decisions where the pros outweigh the cons. Rather, people often face dilemmas where they feel they have to pick the lesser of two evils. This causes people to feel stuck and paralyzed in making changes in their life. I assist people in mapping out their difficulties so that they can figure out how to transcend these dilemmas.

This requires that people feel safe and secure during therapy so that they feel they can explore these issues without fear of judgment. This requires me to tailor my approach depending on the issue and the individual. My training in a variety of different approaches has helped me to better pick the approach that fits the individual.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
