She's a great therapist, kind, responsive and knows how to relate to you. In other words, she makes sure that you are being heard and that your feelings are valid without feeling judged. She's good at keeping track of the progress and she helps dismantle all the thoughts and behaviours. I really appreciate her, she has helped me a lot!

This has really been a solid experience with Janice. She works very hard to make sure that my (and other's) needs are met. My initial expectations were low. I am super happy that this completely changed my views. Now, I'm convinced that every person would benefit from therapy.

More about Janice

  • 7 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker, eligible to participate in private independent practice. I receive my masters degree in social work in 2016 from Western New Mexico State University. I have been working with individuals, children parents, and couples for several years now, in different capacities. I do have various experience working with individuals, as well as group therapy, and tele-health therapy. My background experience includes but is not limited to working with individuals with depression, anxiety, borderline personality, trauma, ADHD, ADD, and issues around life transitions. I have worked with clients of various ages including 11 years to adults.

I use evidence-based practice approaches to help clients. My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone and everyone with with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. It’s very important for me to create a safe place where clients are comfortable sharing and learning new strategies to manage as well as I understand it has to be individualized, because I am aware and understand there is not one approach that works for everyone.

My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, psychodynamic, couples therapy, and various others.

I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I like to remind clients you get what you put into it, if your resistant to change or trying new things its important to try and be open minded to get the best results.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I came into this thinking I would have a hard time opening up again, but my therapist made me feel very comfortable. I have had no problem expressing what I need help with and taking in what is said back to me. I have been doing the activities I have been given and working on myself little by little as my sessions continue. My therapist Janice Walker is a perfect match for me and what I need help with.
