More about Pamela

  • 35 years' experience

I have been working with clients for over 30 years to help them make better choices so that they can be happier and more content, realize what strengths and good qualities they already posses, and to add coping behaviors to build upon those positive attributes. I utilize a variety of approaches that focus on the present and coping with current stressors, as well as identifying when any past issues needs to be addressed further to free up one’s energy to move in the direction they would like to go. I like to identify practical, manageable, as well as possible changes with my clients that can be reached by making changes they have control over - in small steps or leaps, respecting the pace a client wants. I include some practical coping behaviors from CBT, assertiveness and boundary setting, mindfulness and DBT types of treatment, as well as evaluating life style choices when changes in self care that may be advisable (but up to the client, of course). I also keep in mind the bigger picture of a client’s background and current life situation. For example, making changes in the middle of a pandemic may need a somewhat different focus, as well as with other life events like illness, divorce, moving, etc. I have worked with clients from young adulthood to elderly and of various ethnicities with respecting individual, family, and cultural values and issues. I am always willing to learn more from an individual’s experiences and welcome feedback as we work together In their counseling. I am available for morning and afternoon sessions

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Words don't do justice how much I appreciate Pamela as a therapist. She is an amazing listener, gives practical and supportive advice, and encourages me to see new perspectives about the positives and the negatives in life. I throughly look forward to speaking to her every week. She has seen me at my worst and has helped me understand that even in the darkness there is still light. 100/10 would recommend!

Pamela cares deeply about my well-being and my experience with her expertise has been phenomenal. Great bedside manner even through Zoom!

Reviewed May 2022

I met Pamela through beYogi's partnership with betterhelp. I was unsure of what I was getting into having been matched with a therapist instead of choosing one based on the traditional referrals. From day one, Pamela actively listened to what was being said and what was being left unsaid. Her demeanor is kind and empathetic, and also direct when discussing tough issues. She leaves me each week with relevant tips to practice between sessions to help me improve in areas where I am weak. The tips are always useful in ways I might have expected and in others that are not expected. I began to see how all the small tasks work together for my life in the bigger picture. I thoroughly enjoy my conversations with Pamela and I would highly recommend her.
