More about Meryl

My name is Meryl Galvan and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida. I have 10 years of experience treating adults, adolescents, families, and couples with many different mental health issues and conflicts. In addition to general mental health, I have experience in treating trauma, grief, relationships, health psychology, and substance abuse. In addition to my therapeutic work, I have supervised teams of clinicians to insure they provide the highest quality of care to clients in outpatient treatment.

I provide a therapeutic approach that is patient and engaging. I provide compassion while helping my clients find solutions to the challenges in their lives. I am direct and sincere as I allow my clients to gain what they need from therapy including insight, coping skills, and resolutions. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Solution Focused Therapy to help my clients achieve their goals.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology both from the University of West Florida, as well as additional certification in health psychology. I am a Certified Therapist in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well.

I believe that therapy is work and I am willing to put the work in with you. I do much more than listen and talk. I provide lasting coping skills and insight that you will be able to use not just with your struggles now, but with future issues that may come about in your life. Therapy is work that pays off even years down the way! I love seeing people improve their lives and ultimately feel more comfortable with themselves and the world.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Meryl Galvan, LMHC is a truly gifted counselor! She has helped me by giving me practical advice while teaching useable coping skills tool I can use to resolve/prevent issues that occur. She is a game changer in the field of therapy/counseling because she is "solution oriented"! In my experience of over 25 years of counseling, Meryl Galvan's practice philosophy exceeds and goes above and beyond the traditional therapist/counselor role of being an active listener - just someone to talk to. I am grateful to have found such a dedicated professional!
