More about Christy

  • LCSW

I am Christy Crespin, LCSW, licensed in California in 1995. I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino and obtained my license in clinical social work while working with families and children in the probation and foster care settings. I have over 30 years of experience working with adults in various settings including vocational rehabilitation, blindness, a forensic hospital setting, and families and foster care in a community mental health setting. I have worked through treatment modalities including Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered, and motivational Interviewing.

I strongly believe in the power of self-determination and that each of us is endowed with innate strength that we may need guidance to tap into, provided our avenues are explored, validated and empowered in a safe environment. Growth and change are difficult and it takes courage to step out in faith to discover who we are and that we can make changes so we live in balance at our optimal best. I hold the belief that each of us is a unique and precious child of the one who created us. Everyone is capable of working through difficulties to come out better on the other side, but at times we may need to summon the courage and strength to allow a therapist to assist. It takes being vulnerable and questioning our patterns to explore and embark on a path yet undiscovered, and I enjoy walking with others on their journey through life. I am a practicing Roman Catholic.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Christy has been so wonderful in helping me cope with my breakup and as I transition into life on my own. She is gentle and truthful. Compassionate and I can feel she truly cares about me and how I lead my life. I am very grateful for Christy! And I thank her for all the exercises and book recommendations she has given me as tools in my healing journey!

Reviewed December 2022

Christy has a gentle strength and a deep compassion for her clients. She is by far the most professional and helpful therapist I have encountered on BetterHelp. After each video or audio call, she has written me extremely helpful recaps of our session together, including next steps and things for me to remember. She always responds to my messages, and has worked hard to accommodate my schedule when she can. She is insightful, but also helps me come to my own conclusions, never forcing her opinion on me. Anyone would be lucky to work with Christy on this platform.
