Hi, I'm Rachel Chernow and I'm a licensed clinical counselor in Maryland since 2007. In my 10+ years as a clinical therapist, I've worked with various populations struggling with a wide variety of diagnoses, including Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, adjustment Disorder, schizophrenia, and others.

I have a Master's degree in clinical counseling from Johns Hopkins University and have worked in private practice settings as well as community based settings.

I believe in order to have success in therapy, the initial focus must be on the relationship. I strive to develop a strong rapport with my clients based on a warm and caring presence. My therapeutic approach combines person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and psycho-dynamic. I will work collaboratively with you, the client, to develop and tailor a treatment approach that works best for you.

I recognize that asking for help can be a difficult step but I am here to support you as soon as you are ready!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Rachel is a very compassionate, thoughtful therapist. I enter therapy pretty open, but I think even if I didn’t, she would still be really good at asking questions that stimulate a lot of discussion and move sessions forward. I love that Rachel gives me measurable goals. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the goals we developed together, but as the week went by, I really appreciated having quantifiable, straightforward goals to reach toward.
