More about Karen

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Supervision privilege licensed in the state of Louisiana with over 10 years experience as a licensed counselor. I work with individuals struggling with various life challenges to include: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, and grief/loss. I also have experience helping individuals with ADD navigate school or work situations. I can also help individuals, such as college students or non-traditional students returning to school, with academic concerns such as adjustment issues, how to study for college setting, and time management.

I believe the relationship between the therapist and the client is the most important element of therapy. I consider building rapport and trust with the individual as essential in the therapeutic process. I help individuals identify and establish their goals for therapy and work with individual toward accomplishing those goals. I use client- centered therapy along with Solution Focus Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to help individuals. I design each individual’s therapy to the unique and specific goals of the individual.

I also have experience with social anxiety, religion/spiritual concerns, addiction, forgiveness, communication, compassion fatigue, academic concerns, and career issues.

I look forward to working with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I was a little apprehensive as this was my first ever counseling experience and it would be virtual rather than in person. But Karen helped me to feel comfortable from the very start and throughout the few sessions I’ve had with her so far. She responds very quickly to messages and is just wonderful overall.
