More about Kanika

  • 9 years' experience

I am Kanika Shelly, a licensed therapist and a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. I use strength-based, trauma-focused family systems and holistic treatment methods as a pathway to healing. I am licensed in California with over ten years of experience working as an Associate and Therapist. Using Pain In the Heart (PITH), I have worked with people with various concerns, including depression, trauma resulting from abuse and neglect, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting, family problems, and self-esteem. I have worked with Children, Teens, Young Adults, and Adults. I have spent most of my work dedicated to marginalized communities. I am passionate about families and have intensive training in family systems therapy. I work from a strength-based perspective and encourage one's ability to envision oneself as a perfect, whole, and complete being. I BELIEVE IN YOU!

My therapy style is warm and interactive with a sense of humor. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, compassion, and empathy. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I like to call myself the integrationist, meaning my approach combines my primary modality, Pain In the Heart Theary (PITH), and I integrate other modalities in and as needed. Other Modalities that I have been trained in include: Trauma-Focused-Cognitive Behavioral(TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Multisystemic Therapy, and Family Therapy (Bowen and Structural). I am also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Profession in which I use nutrition as a guide and other natural healing methods to treat depression, anxiety, and trauma-related imbalances. I tailor my approach to meet your unique and specific needs. My goal is to integrate the whole self into the healing process so that you can awaken to "YOU." It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and take the first steps toward change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
